Mike Pence denies report he offered to take over as Republican nominee

Mike Pence's press secretary denounced a profile The Atlantic magazine posted Tuesday that said the vice president told GOP officials he would step up to replace then-candidate Donald Trump after the "Access Hollywood" tape became public weeks before the 2016 election.

Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election in November past year in spite of a damaging scandal the previous month over comments he made on an "Access Hollywood tape".
