New contract for Roger Goodell has been signed

New contract for Roger Goodell has been signed

The NFL's compensation committee informed the owners that a new contract has been signed with Goodell, NBC's Pro Football Talk reported Wednesday afternoon. The new deal runs through the 2023 season.

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, who chairs the compensation committee, in a letter to fellow owners said Goodell's pay is "fully consistent with market compensation". "We should have a real good airing out of some of the things that we've been reading about, and in the meantime I've been having a lot of conversations with a lot of owners".

One arrested, two sought after shooting near Graham-Kapowsin High School
Two suspects have been arrested following the shooting of two students outside a high school in Graham, Washington. The Pierce County Sheriff's Department is offering a reward for information in the case through Crime Stoppers.

Blank said the owners will have a more direct line to Goodell going forward, including a session with the commissioner at future owners meetings.

Negotiations dragged on for months amid reports that Jones opposed the proposed structure of Goodell's contract extension.

Supreme Court grants Trump's bid to revive full travel ban for now
Michael S Glassner, executive director of Donald J Trump for President campaign committee, welcomed the decision. The action suggests the high court could uphold the latest version of the ban that Trump announced in September.

Goodell has earned $212.5 million since he was elected National Football League commissioner in 2006 as Paul Tagliabue's replacement.

Goodell's salary was about $32 million in 2015, the a year ago for which compensation for top league officials was made available in a tax filing. He later told USA Today Sports that he would not sue over the extension but wanted "accountability" in the process. The Cowboys owner also advocated that all 32 owners vote to approve a final contract extension, not just the six members of the compensation committee. With Jones under the impression that the deal wouldn't be done before then, there's a good chance the other 31 owners could be dealing with an irate Jones by the time that meeting rolls around.
