Overeem lay on the mat for an extended period with his toes curled as Ngannou did a victory lap around the Octagon. Ngannou has stated that not only does he want to become the UFC's first African champion, but also dreams of headlining the company's first fight card on the continent. As a result of last night's emphatic victory, it seems all but certain that Ngannou will fight the champ, Stipe Miocic, next.

Overeem had dropped a title challenge to champ Stipe Miocic past year, but was back on track, having won two straight. White even admitted that he liked the idea of adding the fight to UFC 220, which is scheduled for January 20th in Boston. Stopping Andrei Arlovski in his last outing, he'd take a step up against another veteran in Overeem.

It is unlikely Alistair Overeem is back up and steady on his feet yet after the terrifying uppercut he copped right on the button.
