Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry lead West in All-Star voting

Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons' Twitter campaigns to make the all-star game seem to be off to a good start, considering their position among Eastern Conference players after the National Basketball Association all-star voting first returns were released today.

Golden State's Kevin Durant leads the Western Conference by 32, 287 votes over his teammate Stephen Curry.

At present, Antetokounmpo, LeBron and Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid lead the voting in the frontcourt in the east. Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving is third overall with 802,834 votes.

Thick fog greets Delhi on New Year; flights, trains delayed
The fog also affected train operations with more than 50 trains running behind schedule at the New Delhi railway station. As per procedure, take-offs can take place only if the runway visibility is above 125 metres.

In the West, Durant is joined at the top of the frontcourt by two members of the New Orleans Pelicans, Anthony Davis (393,000) and DeMarcus Cousins (356,340). The captains will be the All-Star starters from each conference who receive the most fan votes in respective conferences. The game is February 18 at Staples Center. Fans can select up to two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference when choosing starters. So each team's captain must still pick players who would be All-Stars under the old format, but there are no longer conference restrictions. Fans may post votes for 10 unique players per day through January 15. Rockets fans, it's time to start voting.

As in previous seasons, the starters will be determined by the fan vote as well as a vote among current players and media.

There will be three frontcourt players and two guards chosen for each starting lineup, meaning Embiid now has a decent chance of starting in the game. It will air on TNT at 5 p.m. PT.

The NBA released the vote totals for the first 12 days of balloting for the All-Star Game and it should come as no surprise that a player with All-Star experience is at the top of the heap.

This shows the growing popularity of the "Greek Freak" and how he is quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting players to watch on the court. The two captains will then draft a team based on the pool of players.
