Mauricio Pochettino: 'Harry Kane facing Swansea City fitness race'

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is doubtful for Tuesday's Premier League trip to Swansea City due to illness, manager Mauricio Pochettino said on Friday.

A sniffly Pochettino said: 'He is ill, a cold like me. The doctor was there at his house.

"Will he be fit to face Swansea?". We will see tomorrow if he comes to training. We'll see how he reacts'.

Alan Shearer, whose calendar year record of 36 Premier League goals that Kane broke against Southampton en route to taking his tally with a hat-trick to 39, warned that Kane's heroics would only heighten the interest of giants like Real Madrid and Barcelona. I don't know if he will be available or not.

"Maybe he said that because maybe it's possible".

Tottenham players are enjoying their festive time off.

The Belgium global was withdrawn in the 55th minute of the Southampton game and Pochettino said: "Now we're assessing him". He's priceless, there is no price. We can talk about many things but it is impossible to put a price on him.

"Yes, that is why I say that what he has achieved is absolutely awesome", said Wenger, echoing the plaudits that suggest the blossoming of the 24-year-old is a reason for English football to be particularly cheerful going into a World Cup year.

"He has always been treated as a superstar".

Rose held up a sign saying "Kane learned it all from me!" as the cameras panned in on him in a bid to get some form of reaction out of Spurs fans and their talismanic front man.

"From day one when he started to play at Tottenham, no young player has achieved as much".

Rose made the most of his camera time to show off a sign commemorating Harry Kane's scoring achievements, although comically.

"The problem is with expectation, what we expect from him with every touch, every action. Sometimes it's not possible".
