Meghan Markle deletes social media accounts ahead of wedding

Markle will become a patron of the Royal Foundation, which serves as the main vehicle for Harry, William and Kate's philanthropic activities, after her May wedding to Harry. And that leadership extends to the British royals, so for now, Meghan's social media days are over.

She was met by cheers from a crowd waving both United Kingdom and USA flags when she and Harry attended their first official event as an engaged couple in December in Nottingham.

Meghan Markle attends Christmas Day Church service at Church of St Mary Magdalene, Dec. 25, 2017, in King's Lynn, England. She would use Instagram to post about her work on the TV show "Suits", and to share adorable pictures of her two rescue dogs.

The discussion at the studio later turned to gender equality, and Prince Harry, 33, quickly deferred to Meghan, quipping, "She answers the questions!" Some even thought she was using Instagram to send hints about her secret romance with the prince.

But on January 9, 2018, all of Meghan's public social media accounts disappeared.

Kensington Palace confirmed Tuesday that Prince Harry's fiancée Meghan Markle has shut down her social media accounts in line with royal tradition.

"Ms. Markle is grateful to everyone who has followed her social media accounts over the years", a royal source told ABC News.
