Colts officially name Eagles OC Frank Reich as head coach

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich, a former Maryland quarterback, will be the next head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, NFL.com reported Sunday.

McDaniels was announced as the Colts head coach last week only to then decide to remain with the New England Patriots as their offensive coordinator.

And the Colts had no problem poking fun at themselves.

CIA Paid Shadowy Russian $100K for Fake Dirt on Trump
And looking back, it should have been obvious that the Russian never had any ties to sensitive information. President Trump has said publicly that there is a bias against him within the United States government.

This report only comes a few hours after ESPN reported Reich to be the heavy favorite to land the job.

The other challenge for Reich will involve his coaching staff. He was previously an assistant coach with the Colts from 2008-2011 and spent 13 years as an National Football League quarterback. He was the architect of the Eagles Super Bowl winning offense. Multiple assistant coaches signed contracts thinking they would work under McDaniels.

Reich was interviewed Friday and New Orleans Saints assistant head coach/tight ends coach Dan Campbell had talks with the Colts on Thursday. "I feel extremely fortunate and could not be more excited for Colts Nation and the future of our franchise". He left to become the wide receivers coach for the Arizona Cardinals for one year and in 2013 was hired by the Chargers as their quarterbacks coach before becoming the team's offensive coordinator the following year. The Eagles have also suffered two big losses to their staff since the Super Bowl.

Safety Malcolm Jenkins is a physical presence in the secondary and cornerbacks Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills are solid cover guys. He kicked a 61-yarder at the end of regulation to beat the Giants in Week 3 and is 6 of 7 from beyond 50 yards.

As for Pederson's Eagles, it's easy to say this is the downfall of success: losing their coordinator and quarterbacks coach, John DeFlippo, who took the coordinator vacancy in Minnesota.

The Colts are coming off a 4-12 season and have missed the playoffs in each of the past three years. It's easy to see why the Colts quickly identified Reich as a top candidate. I'm very proud of the kid - wouldn't want anybody else on our team.
