John Kelly Outlines Improvements For Security Clearance Process

Echoing words from White House deputy press secretary Raj Shah and Vice President Mike Pence, Kelly indicated that they could have done better handling the Porter situation.

The Washington Post reports that Kushner, whose portfolio encompasses issues ranging from the Middle East peace process to modernizing the federal government's use of technology, has put in more requests for USA intelligence information than any White House staffer not working for the National Security Council.

For future approved interim clearances, grant a temporary clearance for a period of 180 days, with an option to extend interim clearance for another 90 days if no significant derogatory information that would call into question whether interim status is appropriate has been discovered in the BI.

Google Pixel sales still no match for iPhone, Galaxy S series
IDC Research Director Francisco Jeronimo tweeted that Google shipped 3.9 million units of the Pixel and Pixel 2 combined in 2017. Lastly, Google Pixel smartphones are only available through Verizon, while the iPhone models are available in all carriers.

White House chief of staff John Kelly, under fire over the White House's handling of domestic abuse allegations against a senior aide, ordered an overhaul of the security clearance process for current and incoming top administration officials.

In a memo addressed to White House counsel Donald McGahn and others released by the White House on Friday, Kelly said, "We should - and in the future, must - do better".

Going forward, all BIs of potential Commissioned Officers should be flagged for the Federal Bureau of Investigation at the outset and then hand-delivered to the White House Counsel personally upon completion. Kelly, meanwhile, said he first learned something was wrong with Porter's clearance in November.

Mr. Kelly did not directly address the case of the aide, Rob Porter, who was forced out of his job as the White House staff secretary this month after news reports that his two former wives had claimed physical and emotional abuse by Mr. If any derogatory information turns up, no interim clearance is issued and the worker must wait until the full investigation is finished, said the official, who wasn't authorized to discuss the clearance process and demanded anonymity.

He included among the options a tariff of almost 24 percent on all products from China, Russia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Venezuela. We call on President Trump to act swiftly and boldly to save the American aluminum industry.

Yet, 13 months later, Porter still had interim clearance as the authorities continued to evaluate what the White House now says are "credible" and "true" allegations of domestic abuse.

"It also discontinues interim Top Secret or SCI-level (Sensitive Compartmented Information") clearances that have been pending since before June 2017 and limits access to highly-classified information for individuals with interim clearance. He also said they began the clearance process and handing out those forms in October before the election.

But Kushner's attorney Abbe Lowell said "it is not uncommon for this process to take this long in a new administration" and said the new policy would not affect the president's son-in-law to "continue to do [his] very important work".

Kelly touted changes he has already made to the security clearance process, writing that "security clearances were one of my earliest and most immediate concerns" when he became chief of staff last summer.

Flu vaccinations still available; health department urges residents to get vaccinated
What that number means is that if you are vaccinated and you run into a flu virus, you have a 64 percent chance of getting sick. That makes sense; having difficulty breathing at a "normal" time can be exacerbated when the flu strikes and lungs are damaged.

"The American people deserve a White House staff that meets the highest standards and that has been carefully vetted - especially those who work closely with the President or handle sensitive national security information", Kelly wrote. "That needs to be revisited", Kelly wrote.
