Allen Hurns to visit with Jets on Wednesday

The Jacksonville Jaguars have informed Tight End Marcedes Lewis that he has been released following 12 years of service in Northern Florida. Two years ago, in 2015, he paired with Robinson to give the Jaguars two 1,000-yard receivers.

Hurns went undrafted out of Miami in 2014, but he's been a productive player for the Jaguars. He says, "I wish they would have done it sooner".

Hurns will be the third wide receiver to visit the Jets this week, joining Terrelle Pryor and Charles Johnson.

Tennessee Titans RB Dion Lewis gets emotional during introductory press conference
Butler said he's already looking forward to competing against Titans receiver Corey Davis in practices. But Bill Belichick has been doing this for a very long time. "I never got a reason", Butler said .

Hurns is an intriguing option at receiver, a position the Saints briefly tested out last week by scheduling a visit with former Green Bay star Jordy Nelson, who ultimately signed with the Raiders before making the trip to New Orleans.

Seeing the Jacksonville Jaguars part ways with Hurns after losing Allen Robinson to free agency may seem like a surprise to some since Blake Bortles clearly needs all of the help he can get in the passing game after past year. "I appreciate it all from the good to the bad". Marquise Lee also emerged as a threat during the last two seasons, taking targets away from Hurns.

The Jaguars released Hurns on Tuesday.

The Jaguars picked up an option in Lewis' contract last month that would have paid him $3.5 million in 2018. The Jaguars are creating $7 million in cap space by releasing him after recently signing former Colt Donte Moncrief.

He finished his first season with 677 yards receiving off 51 catches with six touchdowns. The 33-year-old Lewis has 375 receptions for 4,502 yards with 33 touchdowns in 170 career games since being selected by Jacksonville with the 28th overall pick of the 2006 NFL Draft. His career stats so far - 189 catches, 2,669 yards, and 21 touchdowns.
