The torso was found on the ground and the arms covered with soil at the same location in Shimamoto.

The woman's phone soon went dead and her family reported her missing on February 17.

The decapitated head was found over the weekend as police searched the apartment for signs of a missing 27-year-old woman who vanished after telling a pal she was meeting an American tourist she found online, The Ashashi Shimbun reported.

She and Bayraktar were last spotted together on security footage that night at the JR Morinomiya Station in Osaka around midnight, just hours before she went missing. Police are still trying to identify the woman whose head was found in the suitcase but believe it to be that of the missing Hyogo woman.

The body parts were located based on information Bayraktar provided law enforcement, according to the Japan Times.

NY resident Yevgeniy Vasilievich Bayraktar, 26, was already in police custody on suspicion of "confining" a missing 27-year-old woman when police found the head, Japan's Asahi Shimbun reports.

Bayraktar is believed to have used dating apps to communicate with a number of women since his arrival in Japan in January. Another CCTV recording shows her entering the building where Bayraktar had rented a unit on Feb 16; there is no footage of her leaving. The unidentified woman was only seen entering the apartment and not leaving. That same day, police apprehended the suspect in Nara Prefecture on suspicion of confining the woman in the Higashinari residence.

Police investigating the disappearance of a Hyogo Prefecture woman are searching for a large bag carried out of an apartment where an arrested American man allegedly held her captive, suspecting it may be connected to the case, investigative sources said.

Investigative sources have confirmed that four or five other women arrived at the Higashinari residence while the suspect resided there, according to Fuji News Network (Feb. 25).
