"In order to keep the United States in the Iran nuclear deal, European countries are suffering from extremism and this will ultimately undermine Europe's policy", Mohammad Javad Zarif told reformist newspaper Etemad.

In his meeting with Zarif on March 5, Le Drian brought up Iran's missile capabilities, a statement that led Zarif to say March 5, "Iran's military capability is for defending the country and is a deterrent, and given the bitter experience of the imposed [1980-88 Iran-Iraq] war, Iran has learned to rely on its deterrence power for protecting its citizens".

Le Drian earlier said Iran "risks new sanctions" if it does not address concerns on its ballistic missile programme.

Javan emphasized, "The Europeans have been affected by the psychological maneuvering of [Donald] Trump to pressure the Islamic Republic to hold talks for a complementary JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action], and this issue led Shamkhani to tell the French foreign minister explicitly that 'Europe's policy of giving concessions to the USA to keep it within the JCPOA is incorrect and means passivity and surrendering to the psychological games of Trump'".

2612 terrorists 'neutralized' in Syria's Afrin, military says
The military also said only terror targets are being destroyed and that " utmost care " is being taken to avoid harming civilians. Ankara says YPG is a terrorist extension of Kurdistan Workers' Party which has waged an insurgency against the Turkish state.

Javad Zarif, Iran's foreign minister, also said Europe should compel the United States to abide by the deal, "rather than trying to appease" Washington.

Spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said that the Islamic Republic's defence capabilities will continue without any interruption, and foreigners will not be allowed to interfere in the case.

The French foreign minister arrives in Tehran on Monday for high-level talks - but the Iranians say their missiles aren't Paris' business. "If not tackled head on, this country risks new sanctions". Trump said the nuclear deal should include Iran's defense program including missiles.

Macron also wants an accord to limit Iran's regional meddling, including their warfare on behalf of the Bashar Assad in Syria, where many Iranian proxy groups are fighting.

SC to hear Karti Chidambaram's plea on ED summons today
The doors of the prison were shut for the duration of the questioning and none from outside was allowed to enter the premises. Karti was arrested by CBI on the basis of a confessional statement by Indrani, former director of INX Media Limited.

"Europe must put the United States under pressure to implement its commitments and not allow the United States to make illogical and unlawful demands despite its lack of commitment and violations [of its commitments]", Zarif said in a meeting with France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian in Tehran on Monday.

Le Drian did not meet with anyone from Iran's Revolutionary Guard, a paramilitary force that answers only to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and runs the ballistic missile program.

In a separate statement, Le Drian called upon the global community to take action to prevent Iranian missiles from becoming a threat to "all regional actors".
