Google Lens rolling out to more Android devices

During MWC 2018, Google announced it would expand its Lens object recognition software, originally exclusive to the Pixel 2 and 2 XL, to more Android devices via the Google Photos app and, eventually, the Assistant itself. The feature was initially available only to Google's own smartphone series Pixel. We'll add support for more devices over time. If you aren't sure whether you've got the latest version, try heading to the Google Play store and installing the app.

How does Google Lens work? When it comes to landmarks or any place, Google Lens depends on what Google can recognize. This much-touted feature is finally making its way to all Android smartphones via Google Photos.

With machine-learning algorithm integrated into Google Lens, it is intelligent enough to perceive what pictures the phone user is capturing and provide information of the subject such as an old forgotten celebrity, a locale or a music album cover in the photo.

The feature is now rolling out to Android users (and iOS users later on) and can be found in the Photos app.
