GoPro Announces a New $199 Hero Camera

GoPro Announces a New $199 Hero Camera

In a last play to squeeze the remaining juice out of the enthusiast weekender market, GoPro has announced a $199 action camera that packs numerous features from its higher-end models into something much more affordable. Priced $199.99, the new camera offers most of the features also available with the company's higher-end models, albeit with slightly lower specs.

You can start and stop recording, take photos and turn it off using voice control too and video stabilisation can smooth out footage.

Its camera also gets a downgrade to make the price cut. "Our research and feedback shows consumers really like having a touchscreen, so we wanted to give people that familiar experience at an entry-level price, and Hero satisfies both", said a GoPro spokesperson.

Death of U.S. dollar? China launches petro-yuan to challenge greenback's dominance
The yuan-denominated contract will also help Beijing's efforts to internationalise the nation's currency, said Woodmac's Gupta. Crude oil futures slipped on Monday, but losses were capped by a rebound in stock markets and escalating Saudi-Iran tensions.

Mind you, in recent times, as the Hero series has become smarter, sharper and gathered features, the prices have been creeping up.

The new GoPro Hero has the familiar GoPro form factor from the newer Hero 5 or Hero 6, as well as a touchscreen on the back for settings and reviewing shots.

Out of the box without a cover, it's waterproof to depths of up to 30 ft (10 m), making it suitable for beach shenanigans and scuba diving.

New York Yankees: Greg Bird out 6-8 weeks following ankle surgery
Bird, 25, has shown great promise - hitting 11 homers and posting a.871 O.P.S. when he played in 46 games at the end of 2015. Cashman and Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that Bird had not been receiving treatment on the foot this spring.

The question is whether it will be enough to revive the fortunes of a company that has endured a tough few years.
