MWC 2018: ZTE Blade V9, Tempo Go Android Go smartphone launched

The ZTE Blade V9 Vita is a standout budget phone thanks to its trendy 18:9 display that's become popular thanks to higher-end all-screen phones. We're not sure how the United States market will receive the phone but ZTE Mobile Devices' VP of Product Strategy and Marketing Jeff Yee believes it "will provide consumers with an optimized, powerful Android experience created to allow them to do more on an entry-level smartphone than ever thought before".

ZTE's one of those workhorse smartphone companies you don't hear much about, aside from the occasional misguided flirtation with a weird form factor, a la the dual-screen Axon M. But the Chinese handset manufacturer still powers away and manages to produce some solid handsets at bargain bin prices. The company has just announced the Blade V9 and V9 Vita smart phones.

It comes with Android 8 Oreo as well. The smartphone is backed by a 3,100mAh battery. Inside the Blade V9′s shell lives a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor, 3,100mAh battery, FM radio, and NFC. Lastly, the device uses Snapdragon 435 SoC, which is significantly less powerful than the Snapdragon 450 SoC used in the Blade V9. There is a 5MP camera at the front for selfies. Naturally, the body is downsized as well, measuring 146.8 x 68.7 x 7.6mm. The ZTE Blade V9 is available in 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, or 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variants. In terms of optics, the smartphone sports a combination of a 16-megapixel and a 5-megapixel sensors. The device also features a Fingerprint Scanner. The connectivity features that are available on the Tempo Go include 4G VoLTE, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 4.2 Bluetooth, microUSB, 3.5mm audio jack and Global Positioning System. ZTE's Blade series is a tier under the top-of-the-line Axon series, and as such garners somewhat of a mid-range distinction. Availability of the Android Go phones from those, however, are targeted mostly at emerging markets. The devices would be shipped with different set of features in different countries. The device houses Snapdragon 210 SoC, 1GB RAM, and 8GB of internal storage.

ZTE is not new to entry-level smartphones.
