Nordic athlete Mark Arendz to be Canada's flagbearer at Paralympic closing ceremony

She will lead the 74-member United States team at the Ceremony, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium.

Masters was also chosen to be Team USA's flag bearer for Sunday's Closing Ceremony. He earlier won silver in the Men's 7.5km event.

The 28-year-old biathlete and cross-country skier from Hartsville, P.E.I., has raced to five medals in Pyeongchang with one event remaining. It was his fourth medal of these Games.

"After finishing third after the first run I never expected I would win gold", said the delighted Croatian, who dedicated the medal to his wife Barbara and daughter Vita. "I've seen the Maple Leaf on that podium a few times now with teammates, but to finally be up there myself with that anthem, that's going to be an awesome feeling".

China shared the 19th place with Kazakhstan, while South Korea rose to the 15th place together with Finland and New Zealand that have won one gold and two bronze medals.

Benjamin Daviet of France took the silver in 43:50.5, while Norway's Nils-Erik Ulset was third (44:06.7).

"The gold medal day, I woke up and said, "hey, this is kind of east coast weather" - a little bit of rain, a little bit of snow, freezing, a little bit of ice and then warm temperatures right after - so I felt right at home in that kind of weather and that kind of conditions".

"That completes the set for biathlon".

Arendz already had raced to a silver and bronze in biathlon here, plus a bronze in cross-country skiing's 1.5-kilometre sprint classic.
