Strikes hit battered Ghouta as death toll hits 800

Russia's Defense Ministry said Tuesday that Syrian rebels, in addition to civilians, are free to use evacuation corridors to leave the besieged eastern Ghouta area. He said they can carry their weapons.

The Syrian forces captured farms southeast of the towns of Rihan and Housh al-Ashary reaching the outskirts of the town of Mesraba, which is a strategic town due to its location as it links several towns and areas in Eastern Ghouta with one another, the source said, on condition of anonymity. Activists and the Observatory say the pauses have not been enforced.

"You have a horrific human impact of the bombing ... hundreds of civilians killed in the last 10 days, thousands injured".

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported 13 killed in Jindaris, including 2 children.

The town of Mesbra was the site of the most recent attack as Syrian forces attempt to cut Ghouta in two.

"There are no negotiations about this subject", Hamza Birqdar told Reuters in a text message, referring to Russia's offer to provide rebels and their families safe passage out of besieged Eastern Ghouta.

Russia's Defense Ministry has raised the death toll from the crash of a military cargo plane at an air base in Syria to 39.

Fighting has been going on for weeks, and has taken the lives of over 700 civilians. The council should also request that the United Nations send monitors to oversee the aid delivery and evacuation of civilians from Eastern Ghouta. The Syrian government says the Israeli regime and its Western and regional allies are aiding Takfiri terrorist groups that are wreaking havoc in the country.

With the war entering its eighth year, capturing eastern Ghouta would be a major victory for Assad, who has steadily regained control of rebel areas with Russian and Iranian support.
