In addition to her first ever Oscar, Janney earned a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award for playing Tonya Harding's mom LaVona in the movie that starred Margo Robbie as the embattled skater.

The Boston-born artist, who won best actress in a supporting role for her portrayal of Tonya Harding's abusive mother in "I, Tonya", quickly followed up by saying there was "nothing further from the truth".

"I am so happy that I have a job to go to after something like this because it could go to your head, and then tomorrow to wake up and feel -- and have nothing to do and have this whole journey be over", Janney explained. "You nailed my mother, ' and I didn't know what to say ... so I just gave her a hug and I said, 'I'm so sorry you had that kind of an environment when you were growing up'".

Most poignantly, Janney concluded the speech by dedicating the award to Hal, Janney's younger brother who died in 2011 after years of struggling with depression and drug addiction.
