Sega reveals Mega Drive Mini console

The Sega Genesis console was a massive global success.

Meant as the SEGA version of Nintendo's NES and SNES Classic, the SEGA MegaDrive Mini will go on sale this year, though there wasn't any more details as to what games will be on the console other than possibly a way of asking the audience what they want.

Officially unveiled at Sega FES 2018 on Friday, the "Mega Drive Mini" - it's a working title - will launch in Japan first according to Polygon, with "the USA and other territories" set to follow later this year. Sega Ages is the label Sega give its downloadable back catalogue.

Sega Ages is not a new series. If this announcement seems strangely familiar, that's because AtGames has already gifted fans with a classic plug and play system boasting a plethora of games. We don't know exactly when and where it'll launch, we don't know how much it's going to cost and who's going to produce it, and we don't know which games will make an appearance, nor how many.

For those unfamiliar, AtGames is a company known for manufacturing a range of "flashback" consoles, including the Genesis.
