Elon Musk Says Tesla Model S Crash Media Coverage Is 'Messed Up'

While a Tesla spokesperson failed to comment following the accident, the company's co-founder Elon Musk took to Twitter to note that it was "super messed up" that the latest accident had garnered so much public attention, while accidents involving traditional cars "get nearly no coverage".

Police are investigating whether a Tesla sedan's semi-autonomous Autopilot feature was engaged when it rear-ended a fire department truck in Utah.

"What's actually unbelievable about this accident is that a Model S hit a fire truck at 60 miles per hour and the driver only broke an ankle". "An impact that speed usually results in severe injury or death".

The NTSB and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are investigating at least two other crashes involving Tesla vehicles. The vehicle burst into flames and was attended to by Bellinzona firefighters, who say the blaze may have been caused by the Tesla battery.

Hunt for kidnapped Britons in Congo's Virunga reserve marred by murder
It is a Unesco world heritage site and home to critically-endangered mountain gorillas, as well as lions, elephants and hippos. Park director Emmanuel de Merode said: "Ranger Baraka's life was tragically cut short in service to Virunga National Park".

The driver of the fire truck was evaluated for whiplash but was not hospitalized.

Matthew Schwall was director of field performance engineering at Tesla; he quit his job at a critical time when U. S. National Transportation Safety Board's investigations into their electric vehicles are still going on.

In March, a Tesla Model X was on autopilot mode when it collided with a barrier on Highway 101 in Mountain View, Calif., killing the 38-year-old driver.

Mr Schwall was the electric carmaker's main technical contact with USA safety investigators.

Chinas first home-built aircraft carrier begins sea trials
The first round of sea trials is expected to primarily test the reliability of the carrier's power and propulsion systems. Now the country only has a retrofitted Soviet-era aircraft carrier called the Liaoning , which was launched in 2012.

This can lead to the breakdown of the thermal balance of the system and the complete destruction of the batteries and the vehicle.

The change comes as Electrek reported on a company memo saying Tesla (TSLA) is poised to top Model 3 production numbers of 500 a day. Although the Model S can be driven autonomously, it remains unclear whether the car's autopilot feature was turned on at the time of the crash.

The company said in a statement on Monday: Tesla has not yet received any data from the auto and thus does not know the facts of what occurred, including whether autopilot was engaged.

Witnesses said the Tesla did not brake prior to impact. The company, which is based in Palo Alto, California, and has a huge battery factory in the Reno, Nevada, area, tells drivers the system requires them to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel so they can take control to avoid accidents.
