Girl bit by bear gets dozens of internal, external stiches

A FIVE-year-old girl mauled by a bear outside her home is recovering in hospital after her mother scared the animal away. She is in good condition at St. Mary's Medical Center in Grand Junction.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife said they are investigating and actively tracking the bear following the attack which occurred in East Orchard Mesa, Grand Junction.

Her mother went outside when she heard screaming. When the mother started screaming at the animal, the bear dropped the girl.

In 911 recordings released Monday, the girl's father calmly says "she's just missing a chunk out of her back, a couple spots in her leg".

Based on the description of the bear and its behavior, wildlife officers are confident the dead bear is the same bear involved in the attack on the girl.

The Taliban and ISIS have made clear their intentions to disrupt the elections. Witnesses said the explosions had caused carnage among passers-by.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reported earlier in 2018 that Colorado wildlife officials feared another deadly attack because of a lack of food for black bears.

The 5-year-old Colorado girl who was attacked by a bear at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday had been camping alone in the yard.

"Right on, good for her", the dispatcher responded.

"Fortunately, she had no life-threatening injuries", Breaux said.

Federal and state wildlife officers are using traps in an effort to capture the bear that is now considered risky. "No injuries to her brain or chest organs or abdominal organs and no fractures".

President Trump spoke at the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service Tuesday, and the microphones caught a quick blunder. He added that based on the current pace, the memorial will run out of rooms to carve names on the wall by the year 2050.

"We intend to catch this bear", CPW spokesman added.

CPW is asking everyone to secure trash, keep pet food inside and immediately report any bear sightings to them.

Authorities have set three traps for the bear. They said in their statement that a heavy law enforcement presence will be seen throughout the area as they search for the bear.

Colorado has an estimated 17,000 to 20,000 bears, a population that's considered robust in a state of 5.7 million people that also attracts many tourists.
