Indian fraudsters ridiculed after being paraded in 'space suits'

Based on a complaint from businessman Narender that Mohan and Nitin cheated him claiming they were dealing Rice Pullers (RP) used by NASA for research.

They told the businessmen that he would be able to make a profit by selling the item to the space agency.

The duo persuaded the victim of the scam to invest in a copper plate for 14.3m Rs (£157,600), which they claimed had "special properties", police said.

The cheats further befool the victim stating that the object is a rare piece of copper, which is struck by thunderbolt in the hills of Uttarakhand giving it power to pull rice and the same is being used by NASA and DRDO in advanced space research. Later, he was made to sign another deal and paid Rs 51.1 lakh. Soon he informed the police about the defrauding and got them arrested.

According to the police, the victim later found out that the "scientist" was working with the accused, and was being paid ₹20,000.

Police said the men appeared to have covered a copper plate with "liquid magnet" and iron wires in order to try to fool the businessman. During the investigation, the RP copper plate, alleged anti-radiation suits, alleged anti-radiation chemical stickers were recovered from the accused along with laptop, printer, blank letter heads of Rehan Metals, cheque books, fake IDs and an Audi vehicle.
