Kanye West defends slavery comments to TMZ

Charlamagne Tha God said Kanye needs someone in his life who will shut down his commentary, especially after he went on a rant during an interview with TMZ where he blamed black people for 400 years of slavery. "Like, you was there for 400 years and its all of y'all".

"But Kanye's into fashion, so this is what I tell Kanye all the time: Where you're in your factory and you have people in there cutting fabric, those people are measuring twice so that they only have to cut once, because you can't waste fabric".

West received a fair amount of backlash after the interview, and quickly clarified on Twitter that he was referring to "mental enslavement", not the brutal and physical act of being captured and sold into bondage - but Goldberg was not sure that it really cleared anything up. We need free thought now'.

But that wasn't before the rest of Twitter had something to say about West's words. Symone D. Sanders, a contributor and political commentator from CNN wrote, "Kanye is a unsafe caricature of a "free-thinking" black person in America". "The only thing I can think of when he said that "slavery was a choice".[is that it's] choice of white people". Others put it more briefly. That sounds like a choice. He was hospitalized for a week and had to cut short his "Pablo" tour. West said on live television without a shred of shame.
