NRA in Dallas: Trump pays tribute to DPD, fallen officer

"So as to whether or not the NRA meeting changed his views, that's kind of up to speculation, but I will tell you that is hopefully the first Russian-funded group he has met with".

Trump called out a new story about the federal judge in the Paul Manafort case harshly rebuking Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team, suggesting they lied about the scope of the investigation, are seeking "unfettered power" and are more interested in bringing down Trump.

The president spoke for about 58 minutes ending his speech to the crowd: "We will never fail and we will always protect your second amendment". In all, it spent about $30 million in support of his campaign.

Even President Trump, a close NRA ally, publicly challenged the organization - at least for a rare moment.

The crowd cheered when Trump told the story of a political adviser telling him it could be unpopular to speak to the NRA.

And he acknowledged that this will depend on persuading Brussels to negotiate 40 or more workstreams simultaneously. Some argue that even a technological border is enough of a presence to contravene the Good Friday Agreement.

"We loved it! It was very, the energy and there was just, you just, unexplainable".

Trump said that in conversations with his "political people", they had advised that going to this year's convention would be controversial and "may not be popular". "And now thanks to your activism and dedication you have an administration fighting to protect your Second Amendment".

He also mused about taking guns away from anyone considered risky without waiting for a court order. During this time the members will elect the 76th Director of the NRA Board.

President Donald Trump is making a specific link between the sanctity of the Second Amendment and Republicans' prospects in the 2018 mid-term elections.

The Second Amendment of the US Constitution states that the "right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed".

Iran leader: U.S. pushes Riyadh to confront Tehran, stirs crisis
Khamenei made the remarks April 30 in a meeting with Iranian workers in Tehran , the official website of the Iranian leader said. Khamenei also addressed the current rivalry with Saudi Arabia, which he accused of being encouraged by the United States.

Trump had flirted with tougher gun laws in the wake of the Parkland attack, but under pressure from donors and facing a Democratic landslide in Congressional elections this November, he quickly backtracked.

But Friday's speech was his first appearance before NRA members since the February 14 mass shooting at a Parkland, Fla., high school that created a new wave of momentum for the gun-control movement nationwide led by the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Controversially, though, Trump also advocates arming teachers as a first line of defense against school shooters, echoing the NRA s claim that "the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is good guy with a gun".

The president will be joined at the NRA event by Vice President Mike Pence.

His Justice Department has also proposed barring "bump stocks" - devices that allow sem-iautomatic rifles to fire like fully automatic weapons - through regulations, although Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill would prefer that be done legislatively. The device was linked to last year's mass shooting in Las Vegas, the deadliest in modern American history. Hundreds of thousands of people flooded the streets of Washington and other cities for the March for Our Lives on March 24, organized by the Parkland students and allied gun-control groups. After a closed-door meeting with the group's leaders, Trump backed off and the Republican-controlled Congress hasn't approved new gun control bills.

13 miners trapped underground
The incident adds to an already tough year for Sibanye, which reported four previous fatal accidents since January. Mantashe has urged rescue workers not to give up until all the trapped miners are accounted for.

"Which Donald Trump is going to show up?" she asked.
