Palestinians thank Canada for not supporting USA embassy move to Jerusalem

Nikki Haley, the USA ambassador to the United Nations, defended Israel's response to Monday's violent protests on Tuesday, which erupted following the opening of the newly moved United States Embassy in Jerusalem.

Canada, along with its major allies, does not support the USA embassy move to Jerusalem, saying that's a decision for a future peace agreement between the Palestinians and Israelis.

Israeli troops fatally shot dozens of Palestinian protesters on the Gaza border as the Trump administration opened the U.S. Embassy to Israel in Jerusalem.

Kuwait, the only Arab nation with a current seat on the Security Council, said it would circulate a draft resolution on "providing global protection to the Palestinian people".

Otaibi said the draft would be circulated "most probably tomorrow" and would be created to protect the Palestinians and "provide global protection for civilians".

The Israeli military said Monday in a statement that some protesters "hurled firebombs and explosive devices at the security fence and Israeli troops".

Turkey's government said it was recalling its ambassador to the United States "for consultations" over the US embassy move.
