The internet is completely divided over this freaky audio illusion

Some of your friends saw a white and gold dress (umm, what?) while you saw blue and black. Well, we might have a sequel.

Until experts can provide us with some hard evidence on the matter, the "yanny" vs. "laurel" debate will rage on. Other people are certain it's "yanny".

And Twitter is freaking out about it.

People online can't seem to agree on what they hear.

Palestinians thank Canada for not supporting USA embassy move to Jerusalem
Turkey's government said it was recalling its ambassador to the United States "for consultations" over the US embassy move. But the United Nations human rights office was heavily critical of Israel's use of force.

"It's disgusting than anyone hears yanny", one Twitter user wrote. The middle consonant is definitely not an n, Sanker said, but you might hear one because the vowel in front of it sounds particularly nasal.

The "audio illusion" is leaving the Internet confused, no matter which side.

The voice saying "Laurel" is at a lower, bass-heavy frequency.

Depending on a number of factors - including the sound settings on your computer, and maybe more crucially, your age - you might hear one or the other.

SC collegium agrees to reiterate Justice KM Joseph's elevation to apex court
The executive remains cut up about Justice Joseph having cancelled President's rule imposed by the Centre on the state. The Centre argued that this HC has enjoyed fair representation in the SC and now has a judge from that State HC.

The whole debate is a reminder that the internet is an unbelievable place. Turns out, there might just be a recording of both words playing at the same time.

Finally, everyone's hearing is different, and environment can have a lot to do with how you perceive sound.

In fact, the confusion and the chaos caused by the audio recording has been so great that it even shut down The Ellen Show for a brief moment. You can play around with the pitch yourself to see how the audio can be bent toward Laurel or Yanny.

That could partly have to do with the speakers and system you hear the recording on.

The first round of sea trials is expected to primarily test the reliability of the carrier's power and propulsion systems. Now the country only has a retrofitted Soviet-era aircraft carrier called the Liaoning , which was launched in 2012.
