Weinstein Arrested on Rape, Other Charges

Tainted Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was arrested on Friday on rape, criminal sex act and other charges from encounters with two women, police said on Friday as he faced the first criminal case stemming from misconduct claims that scores of women made against him. He was arraigned in the first criminal prosecution to result from the multitude of allegations against him, and was charged with first- and third-degree rape and a criminal sex act, as well as lower-level sex abuse and sexual misconduct charges.

McGowan, one of the numerous women who alleged sexual harassment and assault at the hands of Weinstein, was joined on social media by fellow accuser Asia Argento as footage of Weinstein's arrest was broadcast by news outlets.

Dozens of women have accused the 66-year-old of rape and sexual assault, their voices being the loud force that eventually started the powerful #MeToo movement that has spread across the world.

The other case involves allegations by Lucia Evans, a former aspiring actor who told the New Yorker that Weinstein forced her to give him oral sex in 2004, the Times reported. He appeared pale, standing next to his lawyer Ben Brafman, while prosecutors described a bail arrangement.

A large crowd gathered to wait for Weinstein's arrival at the NYPD to turn himself in, and waited outside until after his court appearance.

Meanwhile, with a left-foot to rival Griezmann's, Florian Thauvin will lead Marseille into battle against his compatriot. Atletico's next challenge will be trying to stop a bigger club signing Griezmann, amid ongoing interest from Barcelona.

"Mr. Weinstein has always maintained that any sexual activity he engaged in was consensual", Brafman told reporters outside of court.

Weinstein's attorney Brafman made a statement claiming that they meant to "move very quickly" to have the charges against Weinstein dismissed.

But one photo that we won't see, at least not officially, is Weinstein's mugshot.

A statement from the NYPD - which has worked with the DA office on the case - also thanked "these courageous survivors for their courage to come forward and seek justice".

Weinstein stands accused by more than 70 women of sexual misconduct, including rape, with some of the accusations going back decades.

Locally heavy rainfall is forecast across western Cuba and over much of Florida and the northern Gulf Coast into early next week. Rip currents will also be a concern at affected beaches over the busy holiday weekend, especially along the northern Gulf Coast.

Actress Rose McGowan, who has accused Weinstein of raping her at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival, said she was "shocked".

He has been the subject of an investigation in the USA into allegations.

"Today Harvey Weinstein will take his first step on his inevitable descent to hell".

It relates to a woman who has not been identified or spoken publicly, the official said. "Had he been held accountable years ago, there would be fewer victims of his sex crimes", Harrison said. "We look forward to seeing justice prevail".

Reiman's overall major takeaway from Weinstein today is that his non-guilty plea played a huge factor in his outward body language. He can only travel in NY state and CT - and will have to seek approval from prosecutors to travel elsewhere.

Kensington Palace did not confirm that Thomas would be missing the wedding, but issued a statement asking for understanding. Not much - but that doesn't mean that brands aren't going to try and cash in on Meghan Markle's and Prince Harry's big day.

"Assuming we get 12 fair people who are not consumed by the movement that seems to have overtaken this case", he said.
