West Ham confirms David Moyes' exit

David Moyes has left West Ham after the club decided against extending his contract.

Here, Press Association Sport takes a statistical look at the Scot's managerial career.

The former Manchester United and Everton boss guided West Ham to a 13th-place finish.

Moyes took charge of West Ham in November a year ago, signing a six-month deal following Slaven Bilic's sacking, with the club in the relegation zone.

West Ham are looking for a new manager after confirming David Moyes has left the club.

Former Everton and Manchester United boss Moyes was appointed until the end of this season last November, following a terrible start to the campaign under predecessor Slaven Bilic.

It added: "Having taken stock of the situation and reflected now the campaign is complete, we feel that it is right to move in a different direction".

Sky Sports News also reported on Wednesday that West Ham had met with representatives of former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, although it is understood wages are a major stumbling block.

Sullivan has reportedly already held talks with Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca, while he remains a long-term admirer of Newcastle's Rafael Benitez.

Joint-Chairman David Sullivan said: "I would like to place on record my honest thanks to David Moyes and his staff for achieving the target of keeping West Ham United in the Premier League". "This is a big club and there are big expectations from the supporters so they will need to improve".

Moyes' last game in charge was a 3-1 win over Everton on Sunday, after which he suggested his preference was to stay at the club. He also had a disappointing stint in Spain with Real Sociedad.

Fans of both clubs will be feeling slightly optimistic but there's no hiding behind the fact that both West Ham and Everton have become anything but models of stability of recent years.
