Justice Kennedy, U.S. Supreme Court's pivotal vote, to retire

Toobin's tweet is based on the assumption that a new Trump-appointed justice would form a 5-4 coalition in favor of reversing the decision and allowing individual states to decide the legality of the procedure. Yes, a man they thought risky and demagogic was in the White House but the other branches of government - Congress and the courts - were providing an effective brake on executive power.

The White House should honor Kennedy's legacy by discarding the Supreme Court short list generated by partisan special interests, and moving toward bipartisan consultation.

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy is set to retire, giving President Donald Trump the chance to cement a conservative majority on the top court.

CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin had a grim response Wednesday to the news that Justice Anthony Kennedy will be retiring this summer: "Roe v. Wade is doomed".

In his letter to Mr Trump, Justice Kennedy expressed "profound gratitude" for having served in the highest court.

And in June 2017, the President stated on Twitter that the Justice Department had submitted a "watered down, politically correct version" of the "original Travel Ban" "to S [upreme] C [ourt]."1 Id., at 132".

It is true that the Spurs have no leverage whatsoever, because the sense is that Leonard is not going to play for them again. Leonard, who can become an unrestricted free agent next summer, missed all but nine games last season due to a quad injury.

Kennedy's retirement is certain to intensify an already heated midterm election season this fall, as it provides President Trump the opportunity to appoint a second justice to the Supreme Court. Five of the nine judges - called justices - agreed that the president has authority to limit travel from foreign countries for national security reasons.

In a statement today, Kennedy said he's stepping down "to spend more time with" his family, even though "his family was willing for him to continue to serve". While the refugee resettlement program will remain open for business, nonimmigrant travelers - people who come to the US for business, employment, tourism or education - from the seven countries will indefinitely remain barred from entering the U.S. "We just don't know how much different, but I'm optimistic".

A lower court's nationwide injunction against the policy was voided and the case sent down for further consideration in line with the Supreme Court's decision.

Saudi women hit the roads after ban on female drivers ends
For almost three decades, outspoken Saudi women and the men who supported them had called for women to have the right to drive . Another 2,000 more will join the first ten, all of which passed driving courses now offered at all-female university campuses.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Wednesday that the same 25 names that were on the list when he chose Neil Gorsuch are up for consideration as Kennedy's replacement.
