Mattis Expects N Korea To Return Us Servicemen Remains Soon

U.S. president Donald Trump and the North's leader Kim Jong-un met in Singapore on 12 June for talks aimed at ending a tense nuclear standoff.

In a statement, a U.D. official said the timeline will clarify what the implementation of the summit agreement should look like.

In addition to toning down its anti-US rhetoric, North Korea has also reportedly transferred the remains of soldiers who died in the 1950-53 war to the border with South Korea.

"We hope that we will have an ongoing process of making progress", CNN quoted him as saying.

Washington is expected to soon test North Korea's denuclearization commitment by presenting a rapid timeline and "specific asks" of Pyongyang, according to an unnamed senior usa defense official.

CNN said Pompeo suggested it was too soon to expect a detailed roadmap after 40 years of tensions but insisted that Kim had been "unequivocal" about his willingness to denuclearise.

The South Korean prime minister said moving the artillery is under discussion amid thawing bilateral tensions.

"I will say that there are understandings that have been put together prior to the summit, some that took place when the president was in Singapore that I think put us on the right trajectory so that we can build out a framework for success", Pompeo said. "I heard it myself when I visited there as Central Intelligence Agency director, I heard it myself when I visited Pyongyang as Secretary of State and I heard it again where there was a group together with the President and Chairman Kim".
