Wendy's, Whataburger pile on insults for IHOP's 'IHOb' name change

Wendy's, Whataburger pile on insults for IHOP's 'IHOb' name change

The International House of Pancakes, more commonly known as IHOP, changed its name. The morning of June 11, the brand announced via social media that the "b" in IHOb stood for "burgers", a line of which it has now added to its menu. The change is not permanent, a company spokeswoman said, but rather is a move to promote its new burger line.

The restaurant chain switched up its name and revealed that it now will be known as IHOb, or International House of Burgers.

Other burger options include a barbecue sauce smothered Cowboy BBQ burger; the mushroom and Swiss; the Classic, your basic hamburger; the Classic with Bacon; and the Mega Monster, which is two steakburger patties, two types of cheeses, lettuce, red onion, pickles, tomato, and IHOb's signature burger sauce. IHOP's same-restaurant sales - or sales at locations open at least a year - declined 1.9 percent in its most recent fiscal year.

As soon as pancake chain IHOP (aka pancakes) announced its name change to IHOB (aka burgers) starting Monday, the restaurant world and its PR teams sharpened their knives and starting tweeting.

Trump And Kim Arrive In Singapore For Unprecedented Summit
Traffic was held up in the steamy midday sun and scores of bystanders were penned in by police when Trump went to meet Lee. Meanwhile Trump touched down aboard Air Force One before meeting with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Denny's managed to name-check HBO's Westworld with an imaginary conversation where a boy asks, "Grandpa, do you remember the Great Burger Wars?" and the grandfather responds, "lol no I was chillin drinkin milkshakes and trying to make sense of Westworld".

"We are definitely going to be IHOP".

IHOP DIN created quite a stir last week when it told Twitter TWTR users that it would be changing the last letter of its acronym from a "P" to a "b", teasing major changes for the brand. But most fans figured out it was just a way to get people talking.

Internet speculation had the "B" representing everything from breakfast, brunch, bananas, bacon, beer, booze and even bitcoin.

Ethical polluting agent: The toxic embarassment of Scott Pruitt
The EPA justified round-the-clock security by saying Pruitt "has faced an unprecedented amount of death threats against him". Trump continued, "You know that, Scott". "It's not helpful to be sure", Cornyn told reporters on Capitol Hill.

But IHOb has made it clear that it's standing behind its decision, and doesn't mind firing shots of its own.

The restaurant's website, still found at www.ihop.com claims their new Ultimate Steakburgers are "un-burgerin"-believable".

Burger King didn't tweet anything - it just completely changed its profile. And, for what it's worth, the company is still publicly traded under IHP. They will still be officially called "IHOP".

Fallout 76 Trailer, Release Date, and News
Bethesda didn't reveal much about the beta aside from it being used to help them work on Fallout 76's multiplayer component. There will also be new, "sleeker" card frames, while the new game client packs the game into a smaller file size.
