ICYMI at Wimbledon - A looooong semifinal and unfinished business highlight wild day

Isner added a few more endurance records to his resume on Friday, playing the longest semifinal in Wimbledon history and longest match ever on Centre Court at the All England Club against Anderson.

The Anderson-Isner match, the second-longest in Wimbledon history, marked the second time in a 48-hour span that Anderson had played a marathon fifth set at the All England Club.

After all this was at 24-all in the fifth set of a semi-final against John Isner that had been going on for what seemed like forever but was in fact well past the 6-1/2 hour mark.

No South African, male or female, has ever won a singles title at Wimbledon, and the last SA man to make the singles final at the prestigious tournament was Brian Norton in 1921, who finished runner-up to US legend Bill Tilden, also in five sets.

Super-Mom Serena into 10th Wimbledon final
Angelique Kerber has had a remarkable 2018 season thus far. "I had a hard birth, multiple surgeries, I nearly didn't make it". Williams was in control from the outset against 13th seed Gorges, who was making her Grand Slam semi-final debut.

Anderson eventually won the tiebreaker with a 7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 6-4, 26-24 victory on Centre Court, making him the first South African male to reach a final since 1921.

Nadal and Djokovic will clash in a box office Wimbledon semi-final on Friday night, with the victor of the 52nd instalment of their epic rivalry to face either Isner or Anderson in Sunday's championship decider.

Paulina Dedaj is a writer/ reporter for Fox News. The record, funnily enough, was set by Isner.

Of the four Grand Slam tournaments, deciding set tiebreaks are only contested at the U.S. Open when the score is at 6-all.

Anderson would create that turning moment when he resorted to using his non-dominant hand to win a point after tumbling to the grass.

McCarthy: Giuliani Understands Mueller Probe 'Has Always Been About Impeachment'
Mueller is looking broadly into Russia's meddling in the US election and its contacts with people in Trump's campaign. Mueller removed Strzok from his team as soon as the texts were discovered, and Mueller is a Republican.

A showdown between two tennis skyscrapers - with Isner topping the 6 foot 8 Anderson by two inches - predictably featured three tiebreaks. Another set point came at 9-8, but this time on Isner's serve, who saved it with a 138 mile-per-hour serve.

A 19th ace of the match bailed American Isner out of a potentially hard situation.

"He stayed the course incredibly well", said the No. 9 seed Isner, a 33-year-old American playing in his first major semifinal. It culminated in a gruelling 50-game final set in which the South African got to love-30 against Isner's serve on several occasions, but just couldn't pull off a service break. They combined for 102 aces, 53 by Isner, 49 by Anderson.

"John is a great guy and I feel for him", Anderson told the BBC after Friday's match.

Both players held serve all the way through the third set and into the tiebreaker, which saw Nadal fail to convert three separate set-point opportunities, including one on his own serve.

Cormier KO's Miocic To Become UFC's Second Ever Two-Weight Champion
The two were separated by UFC personnel and trainers, and the new champ eventually yelled , "Touch me now, you go to sleep later". Lesnar was cageside at UFC 226 , and entered the Octagon after the conclusion of the fight following a challenge from Cormier.

Tennis writers also took aim at how the officials were quick to reschedule the women's final but stopped short of moving the time of the men's final because of a clash with the World Cup final. Kevin Anderson dispatched tournament favorite Roger Federer in five sets during the quarterfinals, opening the tournament to all competitors.
