Putin says he has invited Trump to Moscow

Russian news reports say President Vladimir Putin is ready to invite President Donald Trump to Russia and that he's willing to visit Washington if he feels the conditions are right.

Trump provoked a furious backlash in Washington for casting doubt over USA intelligence agencies' conclusion that Russian Federation intervened to help get him elected in 2016, at his July 16 summit with Putin in Helsinski.

Putin spoke in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he attended a summit meeting of major developing economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

It is not immediately clear if Mr Putin was referring to a formal invitation or a verbal one in spirit.

Trump 'open' to visiting Moscow for meeting with Putin

Trump last week had asked Bolton to explore the possibility of meeting Putin this fall.

It is not known when, or if, future Trump-Putin meetings might take place, though the White House said Trump is looking at sessions at the White House and the Kremlin.
