At the time a statement on the Lyon website said: "Transfer negotiations with Liverpool and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the captain of OL have not succeeded and Olympique Lyonnais have made a decision to put an end to this negotiation tonight".

But with a few days left of before the window slams shut, Genesio has admitted that Fekir's future is still up in the air - and that the France global requested a transfer at the end of the season. Liverpool had agreed on a deal worth an initial 55million euros plus 5m euros in add-ons, with Fekir even recording an interview with the club website ahead of his unveiling. I am very happy here.
