During his pre-Community Shield press conference, the new Chelsea manager said: "We went together to visit Arrigo Sacchi, so Guardiola is a friend".

Guardiola has previously spoken of his excitement to lock horns with Sarri in the top-flight throughout the course of the upcoming season and ahead of the sides' Community Shield outing this weekend, the Spaniard was full of praise again for his counterpart.

The Italian, who replaced Antonio Conte earlier this summer, has brought in just two new players - Jorginho and Rob Green - despite underlining the need for "a pinch of quality" in midfield at his official unveiling several weeks ago.

"I am happy that he is here in the Premier League", Guardiola said.
