Brett Kavanaugh accused of sexual misconduct in secret letter

For USA Today, Richard Wolf reports that "Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh responded to more than 1,000 written questions from dissatisfied Democrats Wednesday by revealing more about his personal finances but little more about his views on the law".

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has released his written answers to questions he received from senators during his confirmation hearings last week, as they prepare to vote on his appointment.

"That individual strongly requested confidentiality, declined to come forward or press the matter further, and I have honoured that decision".

The Democratic source said the letter was recently given to Representative Anna Eshoo, a California Democrat, who in turn handed it over to Feinstein. The letter, which is being highly guarded by Feinstein and other Democrats, is said to be related to an incident that took place between Kavanaugh and a woman he went to high school with.

Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Joe Donnelly of IN, and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota - who previously voted for Judge Neil Gorsuch, Trump's first nominee to the Supreme Court.

"Sen. (Chuck) Schumer promised to 'oppose Judge Kavanaugh's nomination with everything I have, ' and it appears he is delivering with this 11th hour attempt to delay his confirmation", she added.

Kavanaugh told the Senate Judiciary Committee he assumed the man who approached him was a protester.
