Colin Kaepernick's collusion case proceeds after NFL's dismissal request is denied

Colin Kaepernick's collusion case proceeds after NFL's dismissal request is denied

Colin Kaepernick and his legal team are driving inside NFL territory, forcing the league and its 32 teams to brace for a defensive stand.

On Thursday, system arbitrator Stephen Burbank denied the league's request to dismiss the case, which means he found sufficient evidence for the case to continue and perhaps go to trial. The NFL declined a request for comment.

Serena Williams said every athlete "should be completely grateful and honored" for the protests started by former National Football League players Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid.

"On August 28, 2018, the System Arbitrator denied the NFL's request that he dismiss Colin Kaepernick's complaint alleging that his inability to secure a player contract since becoming a free agent in March 2017 has been due to an agreement among team owners and the National Football League that violates Article 17, Section 1 of the collective bargaining agreement between the National Football League and the NFLPA (union)", Burbank's written statement dated Thursday, released by Geragos, said.

They again came third in the 2013-2014 season in a group that pitted them against Bayern Munich, Manchester City and CSKA Moscow. Modric started out at Dinamo Zagreb and then had four years with Tottenham Hotspur before Real prised him away six years ago.

Sports Illustrated described the decision to move Kaepernick's case forward as "a landmark ruling that substantially alters the complexion of the collusion grievance".

Now some owners, coaches and team executives will be called to testify during the season, a situation the league hoped to avoid.

Kaepernick has been one of the most prominent leaders in NFL player protests against racial injustice during the US national anthem.

The protests of the national anthem have raised the ire of some NFL fans and U.S. President Donald Trump, who has said they disrespect the American flag and the military. It specifically says that owners can not work together to keep players out of the league.

With the 90 percent likelihood that it will develop further, the system would become Tropical Storm Florence. This is expected to move northwest over Cuba and into the Gulf of Mexico early next week.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has said that teams have made their own individual decisions about Kaepernick based on his playing ability.

Serena said she was grateful for the stand they took that has seen both players take on the NFL.

But the league and union put that on hold after the Miami Dolphins faced backlash for classifying the protests as conduct potentially detrimental to the team — putting players at risk of fines or suspensions.
