Marcus Mariota, two other Titans injured in NFL's longest-game on record

HEAVY TOLL: The Titans lost starting quarterback Marcus Mariota, tackle Taylor Lewan, tight end Delanie Walker and cornerback Adoree Jackson to injuries, which made it an especially tough debut for rookie coach Mike Vrabel.

A year ago the Dolphins lost quarterback Ryan Tannehill to a season-ending knee injury early in training camp.

Blaine Gabbert came in to relieve Mariota and was less than solid, completing 11 of 22 pass attempts for 117 yards and an interception.

Miami toppled the Tennessee Titans 27-20 in a marathon-like encounter for fans and players alike, which took seven hours, eight minutes to play, much longer than the typical three and a half hours. It was the first time in his career Jones had recorded two interceptions in any game.

We will have to see if Mariota goes back in again, or if Tennessee leaves this one in the hands of its backup Gabbert.

He said he couldn't feel his fingers or grip the ball well, and hinted he shouldn't have returned to the game.

With Mariota sidelined, the Titans actually just tied the game at 10 early in the fourth quarter. "It's a lot of fun to play with them".

The game was unremarkable prior to the delays, with both teams living up to their low preseason expectations in a dud of a matchup the Dolphins led 7-3 prior to play restarting for good with 6:47 left in the third quarter.
