Trump's Doonbeg Visit Is Cancelled

Trump's visit was scheduled for November 12, a day after the Armistice Day celebration, and he was to spend a day in Dublin before visiting his golf course in Doonbeg on the Atlantic coast, the newspaper reports.

"The president will travel to Paris in November as previously announced", she said.

"Help us to do so if you abhor his policies on climate change, refugee migration, trade wars, military expansion, economic inequality and the whole gung-ho, misogynistic, racially divisive show".

His visit to Ireland was due to coincide with that trip.

Southgate said: "Harry falls in the category in which we have several players where we have to watch how much they play".

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has yet to respond to the news.

A spokeswoman for the Irish government told CNN the United States had postponed the visit citing scheduling reasons on the U.S. side. However, widespread reports emerging this afternoon suggest that he has cancelled the visit.

An advance party from the White House was due to visit Ireland in the coming weeks to plan the trip but that has also been cancelled.

Last month, the White House said Mr Trump would visit Ireland as part of a wider trip to Europe to "renew the deep and historic ties between our two nations".

Politicians and activists in Ireland had indicated they would hold protests during Mr Trump's visit.

In 2017, Mr Varadkar's predecessor, Enda Kenny, also extended an offer for the U.S. president to come and visit. Other protests were planned in Dublin and other Irish cities.

Mr Coveney said: "It will be controversial because everything Donald Trump does these days is controversial".

Trump was among the world leaders to congratulate Varadkar on becoming the country's youngest ever and first openly gay leader after his election past year.
